			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The annual Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Conference was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I spent four days learning new games and initiatives to incorporate into our summer program and meeting like-minded people.  The conference had a number of very informative workshops.  I think this was the highlight of the conference for me; I was able to participate in some great workshops.  One of my favorites was a workshop called “Things To Do With 2 to 200.  It was full of great games, little initiatives and things that could be used in a camp setting.  I know that this year’s Challenge Staff will have a ton of new games to use on rainy days at camp!  </p>

<p>Object of the game is to NOT be stuck with the last piece.</p>
<p>Rules:  Players take turns removing object 1-15. On your turn you may take 1, 2, or 3 from the end of the line of objects. Either player may go first.  The goal is to try to get your competitor to pick up the last object</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Howdy from the Head Horse Chick,</p>
<p>The majority of the horses have enjoyed a 4-month, well-deserved rest.  Picasso, however, was not overly impressed with his wintertime duties. He spent the season at Karen Kafka’s, down in Chandler (wait for it…) as a DRESSAGE horse! Who could ever believe that our Picasso would have the grace, form and athletic prowess to perform extended trots and lateral movements?!  Dressage, AKA horse ballet, is not for the faint of horse hearts, but he made the transition with relative ease.  Upon his arrival back at FPC, my jaw almost hit the floor &#8212; Picasso came back with withers!  And, I must admit, the winter exercise had done his formerly beefy form a world of good. Still the same old Picasso, just in a much more compact package.  </p>
<p>Hombre too, spent the winter in Chandler. He has been leased to a little girl who absolutely adores him.  Her delicate and frequent grooming sessions have made him look ten years younger.</p>
<p>There have been some improvements made around the horse areas. The corrals have been dragged and a brand new shelter has been erected.  We’re hoping that it’ll provide our precious herd some protection from the winter snows and summer sun.  We also “pony-proofed” the Mules and Ponies Arena and converted the original shed into a shelter. The miniatures love their new playground. They spent a solid 24 hours lapping the arena at top speed. </p>
<p>After a few days in the valley, I returned to find that the arena was not quite 100% pony-proof. One of the Shetland ponies (my money was on Joy) had escaped.  Not once, but twice! In my opinion, the thought of Kevin and Michael outsmarted by a pony and the image of them chasing down the miniature steed made the escape well worth the trouble. </p>
<p>Christie Bratt (a third year rider), Noelle Andresen (a second year rider), Karen Kafka (a valued FPC veteran), and I rode in the Catalina Competitive Trail on February 5th. Wearing staff shirts and mounted on our Friendly Pines team, we completed the 12-mile trail and hailed ourselves as the new Team FPC. We are planning to compete in Bumble Bee’s NATRC Endurance Race next month.</p>
<p>Very shortly, we’ll be back in the saddle and on the trails with various rental groups.  And then, before we know it, summer 2011 will be here!  Super excited…</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Despite a winter storm during the first days of January that couldn’t have made camp seem any less a possibility, the rest of the month has been dry and warm. But our march to summer carries on. We’ve already held two Round-ups – one in Tucson and the other in Phoenix. Attendance for both was good and the Weinstein, Kaufman and Sievert families walked away with a free week of camp. We’ve already scheduled a second set of Round-Ups. We’ll be at the Fairmont Scottsdale on Monday, March 7, and on Sunday, March 27 we’ll return to the Windmill Inn in Tucson. Remember that our Open House is April 10 this year. We’ve moved it back a bit to increase chance of warmer weather, to keep a little separation between the event and Spring break, and to align Open House with the time so many families are ready to enroll. We hope you’re planning to attend.</p>
<p> On the whole the enrollments are doing really well. Email and phone inquires are definitely on the rise. So we anticipate our numbers being higher this year than they have been the last couple. Anyway, we’ll keep you updated on all the news you need to know with our newsletters, postcards, emails, and blogs. Sorry, no tweets.</p>
