Friendly Pines Camp

Family Camp

Your children return from camp and for the next several months, you listen to their stories of summer adventure. You practically know by heart the camp songs they sing ceaselessly in the back seat of the car. You are heartened by the affection in their voices when they talk about a friend they made at camp, and how they count the days until they see them again. You take all of this in, and certainly many of you must say to yourself, “Gee, I wish they had a camp for grown-ups and families”.

Well, now we do!

Some activities have age restrictions, but most can be done by anyone ages 6 and up. Below is a list of the various activities we may have going on during our Family Camp sessions.

  • Challenge: Ride the Zip Line. Try the Giant Swing, the Pita Pass, the Climbing Wall, the Leap of Faith.
  • Canoe and Kayak: We will canoe and kayak on our own beautiful lake
  • Archery
  • Hiking
  • Tennis
  • Arts and Crafts: Make a tie-dyed shirt
  • Fishing: Bass and Catfish in our lake
  • Outdoor cooking & Camping skills
  • Campfires: Music, skits, s’mores.
  • Evening activities, like our famous Round Dance, scavenger hunts, dutch auctions, movies, etc.
STAY FOR TWO OR MORE SESSIONS

Families are welcome to combine sessions and stay all week!

Those that sign up for both Family Camp A and B will be eligible for a multi-session discount:

  • $25 discount per person for two sessions (A + B, B + C, A + C*)
  • $75 discount per person for those that stay all three sessions (A + B + C).

Please note that meals & activities in between sessions will not be provided for these “stay-over” families; families that are here for the B Session will be welcome to stay in the same cabin for their entire stay.

*families are welcome to come for Sessions A & C and receive the multi-session discount, but we cannot guarantee that they will be in the same cabin for both sessions & must move completely out of their cabin at the end of each session.)

What Your Tuition Includes

6 meals (Sat/Tues/Fri Dinner through Mon/Thurs/Sun Lunch); snacks; housing, all the activities, and a special Family Camp Weekend t-shirt for each enrollee. (PLEASE NOTE, we do not provide shirts for the tie-dye activity, but you will be able to purchase t-shirts at camp for the tie-dye activity; alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own to tie-dye for no extra charge!)

Space is limited to about 30 families. Family Camp Weekend is a relaxing 3 days and a great thing for the family to do together.

What constitutes a “family” is of no real concern to us. It may be the traditional Mom, Dad, and all of the kids, but it may also be just Husband and Wife; Grandma and Grandpa; One parent, one child; three friends from college. No limits on definition. All are welcome, so long as there is at least one legal adult in each party (i.e., no unaccompanied minors!). As for pets, they must be kept on a leash, and all pet waste must be promptly picked up; please note there is a non-refundable $50 pet deposit for any pets!

Discounts are available!:

  • Alumni staff and campers $100 per family (alumni must be at least 18 years old)
  • Current Season (Summer 2024) Enrolled Camper Discount – $100

(one discount per family)

Housing & packing list

We are able to take about 30 families. Each family is assigned its own cabin – the very same cabins that campers use during the summer. Each cabin can house as many as 10, but most of the cabins during Family Camp sessions will be occupied by families of four or five, so there is plenty of room. While you won’t be in the same cabin as another family, several of our cabins share a “breezeway” and are close neighbors to other cabins, so you’ll be able to make friends with other families very easily without having to actually live with each other!

We will provide a packing list before your arrival. The list will be emailed to registered families.

Families should plan to bring their own bedding & linens for their stay; we have twin-size bunks in 99% of our cabins. Sleeping bags work great, but sheets and comforters are also fine too! We will provide soap and toilet paper, but all other toiletries & supplies (like shampoo, hand towels, bath towels, etc.) will need to be packed and brought with you. We don’t recommend bringing your own snacks, but if you must, we strongly suggest you keep them locked up in your car, as critters can find their way into the cabins if they smell food!

If you wish to enroll, you can do so by clicking the button below. There are instructions to walk you through the process, but feel free to call us at (928) 445-2128 or email info@friendlypines.com if you need help or have questions!
