Friendly Pines Camp

Family Camp

Your children return from camp and for the next several months, you listen to their stories of summer adventure. You practically know by heart the camp songs they sing ceaselessly in the back seat of the car. You are heartened by the affection in their voices when they talk about a friend they made at camp, and how they count the days until they see them again. You take all of this in, and certainly many of you must say to yourself, “Gee, I wish they had a camp for grown-ups and families”.

Well, now we do!

Friendly Pines Camp hosts a Family Camp Weekend. We now offer TWO sessions of Family Camp!:

For campers under 6, they will be able to do some activities, but should be supervised at all times by a responsible adult in your group. Below is a list of the various activities we may have going on during our Family Camp sessions.

  • Horseback Riding: Lots of it.
  • Challenge: Ride the Zip Line. Try the Giant Swing, the Pita Pass, the Climbing Wall, the Leap of Faith.
  • Canoe and Kayak: We will canoe and kayak at both our own lake and Goldwater Lake
  • Archery
  • Hiking
  • Tennis
  • Arts and Crafts: Make a tie dyed shirt
  • Fishing: Bass and Catfish in our lake
  • Camping: We’ll set up tents for you to camp out if the mood strikes you
  • Campfires: Music, skits, s’mores.
  • Evening activities, like scavenger hunts, dutch auction, movies, etc.
covid stuff

We are not requiring families get COVID tested before arriving, since they are living in their own, separate cabin as a family/household unit. We do ask that everyone bring a couple face coverings/masks for times that you are unable to social distance from other families. Vaccinations are not required either.

What Your Tuition Includes

7 meals (Tues/Fri Dinner through Thurs/Sun Lunch); housing, all the activities, and a special Family Camp Weekend t-shirt for each enrollee. (One shirt per person for tie-dye is included, but you are welcome to bring your own stuff to tie-dye if you’d like to do the activity more than once!)

Space is limited to about 30 families. Family Camp Weekend is a relaxing 3 days and a great thing for the family to do together.

What constitutes a “family” is of no real concern to us. It may be the traditional Mom, Dad, and all of the kids (no pets please), but it may also be just Husband and Wife; Grandma and Grandpa; One parent, one child; three friends from college. No limits on definition. All are welcome.

We ran family gatherings throughout the summer of 2020 and learned how to run a fun, safe stay under the circumstances of that summer. Our 2021 sessions were a huge success too!

Discounts are available! Former staff and campers $100 per family. Current Season Camper Discount – $100. One discount per family.

Housing & packing list

We are able to take about 30 families. Each family is assigned its own cabin – the very same cabins that campers use during the summer. Each cabin can house as many as 10, but most of the cabins during Family Camp sessions will be occupied by families of four or five, so there is plenty of room.

We will provide a packing list in late-July. The list will be emailed to registered families.

Families should plan to bring their own bedding & linens for their stay; we have twin size bunks in 99% of our cabins. Sleeping bags work great, but sheets and comforters are also fine too! We will provide soap and toilet paper, all other toiletries will need to be packed and brought with you.

If you wish to enroll, you can do so by click the button below or at the top of each webpage and do so online. There are instructions to walk you through the process, but feel free to call us at (928) 445-2128 or email if you need help or have questions!
